New Hope is very excited and proud to announce the beginning stages of a business plan for the opening of a fifth Bargain Shoppe located in the former ‘Ben Franklin’ building on the west side of the courthouse square in Jefferson.
New Hope’s governing board is likely to make a decision if New Hope can move forward with the project in the very near future. Jodie Jansen, director of development at New Hope says, “The future plans for a Bargain Shoppe in Jefferson look to be very optimistic.”
New Hope has serviced individuals and their families from the Jefferson area since its inception in 1977. Rhonda Mart, executive director of New Hope stated, “We as an organization look forward to the potential opportunity to grow our future relationships in Jefferson and the Greene County area.”
Jefferson officials and business owners have been concerned since the closing of Ben Franklin was announced in September about the potential negative impact on the entire business district should that location remain vacant.
New Hope’s Bargain Shoppes sell donated items to raise funds for the non-profit organization. The appeal of second hand shops has grown considerably in recent years as shoppers look for value and unique items.
